ASLF & Save the Rain
Save the Rain is Onondaga County’s award-winning stormwater management program. A wide array of green infrastructure types have been built throughout Syracuse thanks to Save the Rain. ASLF played a key role in the establishment of this program. Recently we have become more involved in the Green Improvement Fund, a program under Save the Rain that aims to address Combined Sewer Overflow in priority areas by incentivizing private land owners to implement green infrastructure on their properties.
What We Do
The Onondaga County ‘Save the Rain’ program has pioneered the use of urban green infrastructure, and set precedent for communities across the nation. At ASLF we have participated in this exciting program through offering technical assistance for various components and stages. These include:
- The Vacant Lot Program (VLP)
- Redesigning East Water Street in downtown Syracuse
- Working with Onondaga Earth Corps on maintenance of GI installations on West Onondaga Street
- Inspection of Green Improvement Fund (GIF) projects
